  1. Your computer is not connected to the same network with your LinkStation.
    Since NAS Navigator2 is not able to find the LinkStation, the LinkStation is on the different network from the computer.
    Please connect your computer in the same network with your LinkStation.
  2. NAS Navigator2 is not installed properly. Try installing NAS Navigator2 again.
    If you have not installed the latest version of NAS Navigator2, click here to go to the website in each region.
  3. Security software can interfere with detecting the Linkstation
    Dsable all antivirus and firewall software to eliminate this as being a cause of the issue.
    Trend Micro Titanium
    *The Personal firewall has been removed since Trend Micro Titanium 2011.
    You don't need to operate the steps.
    1)Double-click the Trend Micro Internet Security icon on the lower righ corner of your screen.
    2)Click [Personal Firewall Controls] on the left panel. Next, click [Settings] under Personal Firewall.
    3)Remove a checkmark in the 'Activate the Personal Firewall' checkbox.
    *Enalbe the Personal Firewall following by the above steps
    after the wireless connection has been completed.
    1)Right-click the Norton Internet Security icon , and click [Open Norton Internet Security].
    2)Click [Settings].
    In the Settings windows, click the [Network].
    3)Click [Smart Firewall] in the left side of the screen, and move the On/Off switch to the right to the Off position.
    *Enalbe the Smart Firewall following by the above steps
    after the wireless connection has been completed.
    1)Double-click Kaspersky icon shown in the tasktray on the lower right side of the computer.
    2)Click [Settings] on the right upper corner of the screen.
    3)Click [Advanced Settings] and after that, click [Self-Defense].
    4)Remove a checkmark in the 'Enable Self-Defense'.
    *Enalbe the Self-Defense following by the above steps
    after the wireless connection has been completed.
    1)Right-click K7 Total Security icon shown in the task tray on the lower right side of the computer, and click 'Settings and notifications'.
    2)'Go to 'Block unauthorized access', and disable the firewall.
    ** Restart your computer to enable the firewall when needed.
    1)Double-click the McAfee icon in the taskbar.
    2)Click and open the [Web and Email Protection].
    3)Select [Firewall] and click [Turn Off].
    NOTE:The McAfee icon will turn back when you re-enable Personal Firewall by clicking the Turn on(Enable) button.

  4. Error occurs on your LinkStation.
    Check the Info/Status LED and make sure this LED does not flash.

Using 7.10. I had trouble with the card at first, but once I tried plugging it in another slot, it was recognized, downloaded the correct restricted driver, and just worked. Getting a good signal.

7.10 Gutsy (actually Xubuntu but should apply to Ubuntu)
1. With no encryption (WPA,WEP etc disabled at router or WAP) System > Restricted Drivers Manager > bcm43xx > Enable
2. Network Manager > Left Click > Select network. This worked for me without WPA encryption.
FOR WPA
3. Enable WPA at router/WAP and set password etc.
4. Ntwk Mgr > Left Click > Manual Config > Must be set to Roaming.
5. Enter 'ENABLED=0' into file /etc/default/wpasupplicant - create new file if not existing.
6. Edit /etc/network/interfaces: comment-out('#' at start of line) all lines relating to wireless interface and any wired interface eg: eth0, eth1, etc. Further info: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WPAHowTo
